What does it take to be happy? Some people would say that it’s your circumstances that determine your mood. Others would argue that your personality makes you a happy person or a glum one. We must agree, of course, that circumstances and personality do play roles in your happiness. But is that all there is to it? Do we have an opportunity for happiness apart from these things we can’t generally control? Yes. Modern science and psychology tell us this. But, even more importantly, so does the Bible. And so we will see this Sunday, by the Spirit’s help, that happiness, by and large, is a choice. And that choice is, itself, a gift from God.
